Air Gun Pellets
Air Gun Pellets
Caliber Guide
- .177 Caliber:
- Usage: This caliber is popular among casual shooters (“plinkers”) and those who enjoy shooting for fun (“fun-gunners”).
- Competitions: It is the preferred choice for outdoor Hunter Field Target (HFT) and Field Target (FT) competitions due to its flatter trajectory and higher accuracy at longer ranges.
- 10m Indoor Shooting: For 10-meter indoor paper target shooting, the use of flat-headed .177 caliber pellets is mandatory. This is because these pellets create cleaner holes in paper targets, making scoring easier and more precise.
- .22 Caliber:
- Hunters in Britain: Approximately 75% of hunters in Britain favor the .22 caliber for its balance of power and trajectory, which is effective for small game hunting.
- FAC Shooters: Firearms Certificate (FAC) holders, who have permission to use more powerful airguns, often prefer the .22 caliber due to its increased impact and energy.
- .25 Caliber:
- FAC Shooters: Along with .22, .25 caliber is popular among FAC shooters who require higher power for hunting larger pests or for long-distance shooting due to its greater kinetic energy.
- .20 Caliber:
- Niche Preference: A small number of FAC shooters opt for the .20 caliber, which offers a middle ground between the flat trajectory of the .177 and the hitting power of the .22.
